chess has a deeper meaning for me. it was my grandad who first introduced me to chess 20 years ago now, i kept playing only him until i was 12 and then my school decided they were going to have a team for the schools tournament, of coarse i joined as i was excited by the fact that i would finally get to play other people who actually knew how to play properly, while i was playing away at another school my mother contacted my teacher with a message that my grandad had just died but she instructed my teacher not to tell me until i had finished playing. i went on to win the last match for my school and then got told about my grandad, i stopped playing for ages after that but recently my grandma and i were sat and we talked about the times she watched me play chess for hours with my grandad and how she loved seeing me do something that made me so happy. I have now started playing again because of those memories and everytime i play someone i think of the good old days when i could play with someone whom i loved so dearly... so all in all it is my love for the memories which the game has given to me over all those years that motivates me to play....
