A nice question indeed. What is it that I like so much about playing chess online?

Well there are various reasons for this. For me, a 16-year-old boy in a small island in Greece, the predominant reason is that I would like to be the best chess player in the island. And since few people play chess here it is difficult to improve by playing only with them. So here I am, playing with teenagers and adults alike from all over the world. It the only way for me to escape from the narrow borders of this island and play this beloved game with different people every time.

Another reason, is because this game has become an obsession to me and thus I want to play as much as possible. It's the only way to forget my problems and recharge my batteries so I can smile every day. When I play chess, everything else seems to lose it's importance, every problem seems to become nothing more than a little pawn, ready to give its life for a greater cause. Something of small importance compared to other peoples problems.

It's really difficult for me to express my feelings and explain accurately how I feel. I joinned this competition just for the joy of participating somewhere.
