A short analyse - chess online

by Romburak

Chess is my favorite game, sport and hobby.
It creates a world in which most of our harmful impulses, like to domminate, to kill, to fight, as well as the competitive ones, like to to be the number 1 are sublimed and expressed in a form that is completely harmless and adressed to your mind.
Indeed, you can harass your neighbour, conquer a nation ... or win a game of chess, which is superior to all of these.
I started to play online chess only few days ago. Delighted me. Not wondering much why until now...
The advantages of playing online chess, by Romburak  :P
1. You can find an opponent at any time and day.
2. The number of players (and opponents) gets much biger.
3. You don't have to walk out of your house to play.
4. You can play correspondence games with ease. Even against a friend from real life, it seems better to use a chess server for correspondence games...
5. Very good organization. It is in a way like a chess club, only much bi ... Read more >>>

What motivates me to play chess online

by Charlemagne

There are several aspects of playing chess online which I can't so easily obtain other ways.  The best reason is that I get to play internationally, without having to be a master!  I can play chess with people from India, eastern Europe (Poland, Hungary, etc.), and even the Far East, and I don't even have to leave my home town.  Since I also enjoy learning languages, I get to practice my linguistics too.

Second, I can play at my own convenience, both in terms of time and location.  In correspondence chess, it doesn't matter what time of day my opponent makes his moves, or whether he's online at the same time.  If life gets busy, I can "go on vacation" or, when time controls are long, I can just let the games wait. Also, I can look at a position one day, make notes, then come back to it again the next day with a fresh look.  In real time chess, one can find an opponent at any time of day, and pretty much for any time control (at least it's always been that way for me).  ... do u mean chess online?

by karlo_devider

well chess isn't really my game, i really don't know how 2 play chess... i just learned it by watching my grandfather and uncle playing it.... i find it boring when i see them playing the game, until i got sick for 1/2 years, i was really bored by that time and the only game i can play  are the games that are not physically related.. so i played chess, my opponent was my uncle, and everytime he beats me it motivates me for becoming greater than him, and i'm  loving the game..  so i tried to practice different oppenings, i studied his oppening moves, and i copied it....   at the present  i can finally beat him, even those peole who were better than me.....  check mate!!

My Chess online World - Motivation

by MMMaster

What is Chess?  Not a sport, not a book, not entertainment,..... IT's an ADDICTOIN!

What motivates me to play it?  I have NO IDEA.  The thurst for mindless battle far away in the neverending world of Kingdoms and Castles.  Where Knights, Bishops, Rooks, Queens and Kings rule with power, devotion, bonds and SACRIFICE.  One would be envious of such power and control and for this reason we battle not ourselves but to prove something to others and some how become self-satisfied.  In doing all of this we endure, and become patient, learning new things with each battle of enjoyment and anxiety, discovering our weakness and building our strenghts.

SO!!! When ask why I play it?  I just say: For the LOVE OF THE GAME! ... LOL!

What Motivates Me To Play Chess Online

by chinagirl20000

I like to play chess online because I can't see who my opponent is, so I can't judge them by their age, size, or height, only by their playing skill on the chessboard. I need that, because I am always prone to judge people. Another thing that motivates me to play chess online is that I can play just about anyone. It doesn't really matter if they're halfway across the world or just next door. Playing chess online is fantastic, because I can play anytime, from midnight to the afternoon. I can always find an opponent.

What motivate me to play chess online?

by Rabea Al-Qazzaz

It is the only way to play chess in Iraq( under  USA occupation). I love chess and I used to play  every night at the club or at the casino but now there are no out doors nights in Mosul, where I live, we are not allowed to leave homes after nine oclock at night. Now there is no clubs, no tornaments, no freinds to play with, evry thing is lost. So playing online is the only way to play chess.

What Motivates Me to Play Chess online

by oreally

Chess is not a game ....it is a war! There is no luck in chess, no bad bounces, no wind swept balls, no judgment calls by referees. Therefore, losing in chess can be traumatic, as the chess player is responsible for every move he or she makes. No 'bad breaks' in chess. The object of the game is not to score more points than you opponent, but to devastate your opponents defenses while protecting your own, and then penetrating mercilessly to set up the 'kill.'

Why do I play chess? Because we still live in a civilization that predicates its relationships by military prowess, and the threat of annihilation. A sane man would choose to spend his time writing music, poetry, or enjoying the wonders of the world. A practical man n ... Read more >>>
