does everyone have the ads on top of screen?
by nofischerJust wondering if everyone has these flashing ads on there screen while playing. Seems not to long ago they weren't there at all. Now I'm not sure how to get rid of them or even if I can. Does anyone have any comments on this. Please advise if theres a way to eliminate them from the screen.

Something bad about chess
by BlizzarorI see that in chess schools, the best chess players don't like to play against weak players because they're no challenge for them. But they don't understand that they were beginner when they learned how to play chess, and it was with strong peoples they learned chess' basics.
In the other hand, weak peoples don't like to play against these strong chess players, because they're . But to be good chess player, they have to play against them.
Unlikely, I think it happens a lot of time. Before I was good, I remember that I didn't like to play against the strongest players of the school, but a day someone told me to give a try. I was sceptic, but after giving a try, I was finally getting fun to learn every day. Finally, I did beated the best of my school. So now I'm helping weaker peoples to teach'em chess. I think that kids have to play with everybody, because it's the only way to get proud of friends, whether if they're strong or weak.

by BlizzarorIt's a opening that I played many times before, but I wonder what people think about this. It's the Keres attack in the Scheveningen of the Sicilian. So it goes like this : 1.e4 c5 2.Nf3 e6 3.d4 cxd4 4.Nxd4 Nf6 5.Nc3 d6 6.g4. I think that people don't use this because it'll goes to a wierd positon.

by ejroyalI play chess because I enjoy the challenge of forcing your opponent into making moves that you want them to make. It is rewarding to play a match in which you are evenly pitted against someone else, and you play waiting for the other person to make either a mental mistake or they "blink." At that point in the game it is up to you to take advantage and press home your victory. Chess is generally not a forgiving mistress when you make mistakes. It helps me to be better disciplined in my thinking, my concentration on tasks, and in forseeing possible consequences to actions taken in the present.

by mihaibujancaI usually played black 1e4,e5; 2Nf3,Nf6;3 Bc4,Bc5 4.0-0,Nf6 5Nc3,0-0 etc
But once had an idea: 1.e4,e5 2.Nf3,Nc6 3.Bc4,f5!!!
If 4.exf5...e4!!! 5.Ng1(the single chance to save the Knight) and black has a good advantage and will get the pawn later.
Now something stops the black attack(just for a move)
If 5...d5?? 6.Qh5+,g6? 7.fxg6,Ng6???(i was playing like that once) 8. g7+!!!,Nxh5 9.g7xh8=Q and I was lost
But the way I had to play was 5… Nf6! A move which would appear to be defensive but it’s potentially offensive later and the black has an advantage.
6 d3(best for white) ...d5! 7 Bb5 (or Bb3)...Bxf5 and black has a strong attack and good position.
What do you thik about that opening?
I liked the ideea of the Jaenish defence to sacrifice the pawn in Ruy Lopez 3...f5 (instead of a6 or d6)
But i don't like that in Ruy Lopez white can take the knight and has good attack.

by goldyluckAfter reading some of the blogs by players here I am appalled of what motivate them to play. This person that used to live in the ghetto catches my attention best. it makes me realise how lucky I am.How can a person be so knowingly live in a barbaric place unless he don't have a choice? Can a person be different from an environment he grew up when he moves to a different place? or will he bring the trouble to his new place? Will he be saying " You don't know where I'm from, so don't mess up with me!". Thanks to the chess game , I feel wherever you come from...we have common interest.
Will you be intimidated to play chess against a person who just finished serving his 30 years sentence in jail? I'm not...because chess has its own rules and everybody who plays chess knew the rules. What motivates me the most is Chess : is the game for everyone and it brings people together.

by jc56066Well alot of things in life can be related or compared to chess.
The first thing that comes out of me is a ghetto mantality. I'm originally from Detroit MI and not the suburbs! Chess reminds me of why I go to work everyday, so I don't have to live there ever again!
I now live in Las Vegas and am out of that rat hole some people call home. It was pretty rough there. One night a cabbie dropped me of at McNichols and Gratoit and he said " this is the number one intersection in America were you can get murdered". My house was less than a Quarter mile from there on Troester.
Anyway when I lived in Detroit I played chess to keep my wits sharp and remind me to always think a few steps ahead of the other guy.
For instance in the hood people sell things in the street (the two middle rows of the board). When someone intrudes on my side of the street trying to take my money that I ... Read more >>>
What motivates me to play Chess Online
by tsukasaChess, my favorite board game. What motivates me to play chess online is to play it. When I'm at school no one wants to play, and when I am at home no one wants to because I have more experience then my younger brother and sister. So I have no way of getting better at it. So I decided to join this website for a few reasons. One, for me to play chess. Two, because I want to be a better and a good chess player. Plus, since I only have internet at school, it is one of the ways for me to play chess. As you already know it is my favorite board game, and it is a way to meet players from around the world. I find it awesome to meet other people who play chess:) Chess online is a fun way to play chess because I think that it makes you think a little bit more. I also like games that make you think. This is why Chess Online motivates me to play it. :)
