What Motivates Me To Play Chess Online?
by D@rth ChessWhat motivates me?
Well, it all began for me in 2007, I became a county (thats like a state) champion at playing chess in the UK - I then went on to the next tier - where the county champions would face it off for another round.
I went, naturally, to play for my county - but was unprepared for the might - the invincible force of the tactics which I had never seen before, it was disatrous that day. Luck was on my side however, I managed to pull off scholars on an opponent from Shropshire and won a few other games so I didnt go down too badly.
When I arrived back at my home - I realised that these - these, supreme battle tactics where so, unique - so different - I mimicked and synthisised my own tactics based upon the ones I had seen upon the field of the battle of the champions - I started using them against friends and family - they always worked, and I was praised at one point having so much knowledge of the game.
Then my tactics took longer - people knew w ... Read more >>>
A remedy to combat stress! - chess online
by u win theinA REMEDY TO COMBAT STRESS!
We, chess players ,either professionals or non professionals, play chess for some reason. Some play chess for pleasure, some for fame, some for money, some for professionalism and some for some reason and so on. But only a few noticed that it's a remedy to combat stress.Today everybody has to face daily troubles and stressful conditions because of the rapidly increasing world population as well as the technology in every field.
While playing chess, all physical activities and movements are decreased compared to other activities. We imagine, we think, we solve the problems,we decide , we plan and we sacrifice and so on during the play. All are some forms of mental works. Our mind is like a sword. If an iron sword is not in use for for a long period, it will be damaged and not sharp. But it's no doubt that a sword which is daily used will be sharp. For a sword, regular sharpening and proper maintainance is necessary. For humanbeings, mental exe ... Read more >>>
Why Chess Online and not anywhere else
by udeyWhy would anyone choose to play:
in a group that spans the entire globe with players new and old with skills as diverse as their cultural background at a place where someone somewhere is available for a game when you want to play with the ease of tracking all games, noting down everyones moves and basically all your detailing concerns done automatically a platform to seek out learning and credit - unlike a fame available at your plastic chessboard set
Why indeed not make good use of an online resource for playing chess ?
How many of you have friends interested in playing a game of chess regularly with the skills to match yours?
Would you be as serious a player, playing with your neighbour or the nosy kid across the street?
Me here in Bombay, India, really know of none such environment for playing chess. No open social clubs where they would let you play without the need to be enrolled in some National Associ ... Read more >>>
What motivates me to play chess online
by Bird32Well motivates me to play chess online is the same reason that motivates me to play chess offline; to observe myself in a battharmless battle of the wits. As a martial artist I only spar for one reason which is to observe myself in combat and learn more about myself. The same reason motivates me in relation to chess.
I dont play to win, I dont play to prove I'm better then anyone else; I play to learn more about myself, to keep my mind sharp and finally to do my best as to allow my fellow opponent to achieve to results I'm looking for.
All the best ^_^

by SyrianosA nice question indeed. What is it that I like so much about playing chess online?
Well there are various reasons for this. For me, a 16-year-old boy in a small island in Greece, the predominant reason is that I would like to be the best chess player in the island. And since few people play chess here it is difficult to improve by playing only with them. So here I am, playing with teenagers and adults alike from all over the world. It the only way for me to escape from the narrow borders of this island and play this beloved game with different people every time.
Another reason, is because this game has become an obsession to me and thus I want to play as much as possible. It's the only way to forget my problems and recharge my batteries so I can smile every day. When I play chess, everything else seems to lose it's importance, every problem seems to become nothing more than a little pawn, ready to give its life for a greater cause. Something of small importance compared ... Read more >>>

What motivates me to play online chess? What doesn\'t...
by EudaimoniumHi all
since I got an invitation to post some blog, why not!
There was an intersesting question; what motivates me? Tons of fun, for example! Playing chess is a lot of fun for me, but also developing strategic thinking, but that is not all.
You see, I live in Croatia, country which still develops, and meeting somebody from US or something that far away is not everyday story. Just yestersday I had the pleasure to play chess with 'freemind', a man from US, and if would walk up to my friend and said: "Ey dude I've met a dude from US"
I belive he would laugh at me!
Chating with people all around the world while playing the best game ever with them, I think it should be the motivation for everybody to play chess not only online, but on chesshere.com, since I don't recall seeing a realtime chess on other websites, and in case there are, I don't think that it so good, with chat, observing, and all that what makes me play my 5 rounds regulary every day.
Peaceful War Around The World
by RevcedburI love the ability to compete in cyberspace. Chess with people from everywhere. An inexpensive romp
of matching wits worldwide. Facing the strrategists and tacticians. The learners and the novice.
Those that are avidly casual. Those that exchange ideas as well as moves. The silent soldiers.
I enjoy my encounters with them all.

Here a nice true story:
In Holland we playing chess in a local retirement centre, one night a 80 year old man how live there came in and have a look at the chess,I ask do you like to play a game, yes was his answer, a week laster the team has to go to play an other club in the country, just before we left theclub champion rang that he was in a miner exident and gould not make it,so I ask the old man if he like to join the team, was fine with him.I place him on board 1 because this is a lost game.
But what happen after about a hour many of the team members where looking, the old man was in a winning position ,the club champion from the other team shake the hand and say if I can play so well on my old age I w ... Read more >>>
I will try to put it into words what chess represents for me and what chesshere means to me
by orangechessMy name is Mark, I am 29 years old, and I am living 15 minutes from Amsterdam (The Netherlands) and around 20 minutes from Wijk aan Zee (where the Corus Chess tournament is played every year). Chess is a wonderful game i learned to play when I was 7 years old. My father teached me the basics moves of chess and bought me my first chessboard. From then on I played it when i had time.
It is one of the few honest and purest games to see and play. In most games, for example when you watch a soccer match, sometimes the team with the lowest budget wins a game from a favorite. But most of the time the clubs with the biggest budgets (like Chelsea, Manchester United, AC Milan, Barcelona, Real Madrid, etc.) are winning, because they can buy the best players. In the Formula one Ferrari has the most money and can build the best car ... Read more >>>
